The Encore Lifestyle and Enrichment Center houses and operates a community transportation service. Tipton County Public Transit provides transportation to anyone of any age in the Tipton County area. Our goal is to provide safe, dependable, and accessible transportation for those in the Tipton County area.  The Encore Center operates all programs without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin.

SERVICE / SERVICE AREA

Tipton County Public Transit is a demand-response, curb-to-curb, 24 hours advance reservation public transit service within Tipton County and surrounding areas. Due to demand, a 72-hour advanced notice is strongly preferred for this service and trips will be scheduled upon availability. Trip requests are accepted up to 3-months in advance. Door-to-door service is also available upon request for those needing reasonable assistance beyond the curb. In addition, medical devices (such as portable oxygen, etc.), service animals, and personal care assistants are allowed on our vehicles. All passengers are expected to wear a seat belt. All wheelchairs require a four point securement and are also expected to wear a seat belt across their lap.

Service area is designated by points-of-interest in the following areas in Indiana: Tipton County, Howard County, Hamilton County, Madison County, and Grant County.

SCHEDULING A RIDE

72-hour advanced notice is strongly preferred for this service and trips will be scheduled upon availability. Trip requests are accepted up to 3-months in advance.

 

Please call 765-675-4746 ext. 12 during office hours to schedule a ride. During business hours, the voicemail is checked frequently so it is very important to leave a message when calling the Encore Center to schedule a ride.

Info needed when scheduling a ride:

  • Name & Date of Birth

  • Addresses of your origin and destination

  • Times you need to arrive and be picked up from your destination

  • Phone number where you can be reached

  • Whether you use a wheelchair or other mobility device

  • Emergency contact information

A personal care attendant may accompany you at no charge.

CANCELLATIONS & NO SHOWS

Cancellations must be made at least 1 hour prior to your scheduled pickup time. Cancellations can be left on our voicemail when the office is closed. If the driver arrives to pick you up and the driver cannot locate you or you have failed to cancel your trip at least 1 hour prior, you will be considered a "no show". If you are reported as a "no show", subsequent scheduled trips for that day are automatically cancelled until we hear from you. Frequent "no shows" could result in suspension of the service.

Tipton County COA operates its programs and services without regard to race, color, or national origin, in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act and other statutes and authorities that prohibit discrimination in Federally assisted programs and activities. Any person who believes they have been aggrieved by any unlawful discriminatory practice under Title IV may file a complaint with Tipton County COA. Jefferson St, Ste A Tipton, Indiana 46072 from 8am - 4pm Monday - Friday. A complaint may also be filed directly with the FTA, Office of Civil Rights, New Jersey Avenue SE, Washington DC 20590.

Discrimination Complaint Procedures
Tipton County COA has established a process for riders to file a complaint under Title VI. Any person who believes that he or she has been discriminated against on the basis of race, color, or national origin by Tipton County COA may file a Title VI complaint by completing and submitting the agency’s Title VI Complaint form available at our administrative office or on our website, encorecenter.org. Tipton County COA will notify INDOT of all formal complaints within five business days of receiving the complaint.

Now serving all ages! Donations are accepted for all rides (please use this fare scale as a guide).  Please have exact change ready as drivers do not handle change.
